I still hold Pres. Jonathan in very high esteem - Femi Fani-Kayode

Press statement from Femi Fani-Kayode
Our attention has been drawn to a report titled “Fani-Kayode blasts Jonathan; says President is leaving legacy of ‘destruction and disaster’”, being circulated in the social media, and wish to put the records straight once and for all. The statement being referred to was lifted from media reports of April 25, 2013 (two years ago), during the sojourn of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The report does not, in any way, represent Chief Femi Fani-Kayode’s opinion of President Jonathan whom he holds very high esteem, a fact that made the former Minister of Aviation work so vigorously for Mr President as Director, Media and Publicity of his campaign organization in the just concluded presidential election. The relentless efforts of Chief Fani-Kayode in the course of the campaigns have been acknowledged by Mr President as well as the generality of Nigerians. The cordial relationship that exists between them is exemplary and legendary. We are very much aware that the reason for this latest round of unwarranted scheme by enemies of Nigeria is to sow the seed of discord and create acrimony between the president and one of his most reliable allies in particular, and in the PDP in general. But their plans have since failed! We therefore call on all those who are behind this show of shame and advise them in the strongest terms possible, to desist from such acts of cowardice, wickedness, preposterousness and puerility as they blow no one any good wind. We also call on all patriotic and well-meaning Nigerians to ignore such reports and treat them as non-existent whether now or any other time in the future. Mr President is our leader and Chief Femi Fani-Kayode holds him in very high esteem, accord him the respect he deserves and is very proud to be associated and to have worked for him. The relationship between these two great men remains cordial. No degree of campaign of calumny by misguided elements can change this very fact,”

My Experience With Ritualists/kidnappers At Lekki This Morning – Deife

Here is what the op wrote on Nairaland
I’ll be as brief as possible, Nairalanders. To tell you that kidnappers & ritualists exist & are on rampage is an understatement. What you need to be aware of is that they adopt different strategies to capture their victims. I’m going to share with you one approach so as not to become a prey.
I was at Law School busstop at about 6.30am today when I saw a cab & told the driver my destination. He told me to board. I noticed that there was a ‘passenger’ beside him & another one at the back. So I sat at the back.
Within 30 seconds of our journey, the young man beside me offered the driver #100 as transport fare. Immediately, the driver started shouting. The dialogue ensued between both of them:
Driver: How dare you offer me a hundred naira as transport fare? Aren’t you the one that put that bag in the trunk? In fact you have a case to answer. Where did you get that huge amount of money from?
Passenger: (sobbing & genuflecting) please don’t expose me. My boss died this morning. He was a Hausa man who ran a Bureau de Change business. He died after a brief illness. As soon as he died, my colleague made away with one of his vehicles. Because I don’t know how to drive, I decided to make away with this money.
Passenger at the Front: How much is in the bag?
Passenger: 1.1 million dollars
Passenger at the Front: Oga driver, you know what? Let’s strike a deal with the man. (Facing the Passenger at the back who at this point is already shaking like a jellyfish) Are you ready to share this money with the rest of us on this car?
Passenger: Yes sir!
All along I was quiet.
Passengersadthe one who ‘stole’ the money) We need a herbalist or witch doctor to help us make the charms ineffective because the last time I tried to touch the money, I fell down.
Driver: (Cuts in) that’s no problem. We will get a pastor or a herbalist to destroy the charms.
At this point, the passenger asked for my views. To be candid, so many things were on my mind. I felt this could be the ‘major break’ I had been trusting God for. On the other hand, I wasn’t comfortable because if what the passenger said was anything to go by, & I partook in spending the money, I would have murdered Peace & Sleep.
Me: No true pastor will agree to be a part of this.
Before you could say Jack Robinson, the Passenger at the Front quickly offered to phone a herbalist that he claimed to know. Meanwhile the driver had taken the alternative route instead of going through the Toll Plaza. As soon as we got to a point, I told the driver to stop, I told him I wasn’t interested, & immediately got out of the car & took a long walk.
To cut a long story short, when I got to work, I just hinted my colleague about my experience without going into details & guess what she said! She told me their modus operandi which tallied with what I experienced today.
So Nairalanders, I urge you to always take time to pray before you go out & be close to God. Put God first in all you do & be security conscious. May you not die untimely in Jesus’ name & may God’s grace be constantly available to you & your loved ones.

PSG Deny Making Rooney Bid

Paris St Germain director of football Leonardo says the club have not made an offer for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
photo Paris St Germain director of football Leonardo says the club have not made an offer for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
A number of national newspapers in England suggested on Tuesday that PSG were lining up a summer swoop for England international Rooney.
The club have also been linked with moves for Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Leonardo has distanced PSG from these deals, although the Brazilian did admit the Qatari-backed French club would be looking to strengthen before next season.
"On Ronaldo, there has never been an offer," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I've never heard anything about Rooney or Cavani either.

"I do not rule out big signings, but only if there is a suitable opportunity.
"We do want a larger squad with adequate cover in all areas in order to avoid the sort of problems we had in January in midfield with all the injuries and suspensions."

Most of PSG's big-money signings last summer came from Italy, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva arriving from AC Milan, Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli and Thiago Motta from Inter Milan, among others.

However, Leonardo - the former AC Milan and Inter coach - said he could cast a wider net this year.
"The market is opening up," he added. "We may look in Spain or England."

Jonathan Congratulates Venezuela’s New President, Maduro

The Nigerian president congratulated his Venezuelan counterpart.
Jonathan Congratulates Venezuela’s New President, Maduro
President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated Venezuela’s acting President, Nicholas Maduro, on his victory in the elections held in the country on Sunday.

The election followed the death last month of late President Hugo Chavez.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, Mr. Jonathan noted that Nigeria and Venezuela have traditionally enjoyed close and cordial bilateral relations.

Mr. Abati said the president looks forward, therefore, to working with Mr. Maduro and his administration to further reinforce and expand existing trade, economic and developmental cooperation between both countries for the benefit of their people.

He said the president also expects that under Mr. Maduro’s leadership, Nigeria and Venezuela will continue to work together in close collaboration to strengthen the Africa-South America Cooperation Forum as a platform for the promotion of economic and political cooperation between the two countries and continents.

Mr. Maduro is expected to be sworn into office on Friday to complete the six-year term which late President Chavez would have begun in January.
