Pint-size actor, Chinedu Ikedieze popularly known as Aki, recently posed with the respected man of God, Pastor G O Adeboye and his wife.

The celebrated movie star had the rare privilege most of his colleagues can pay a lifetime fortune to get if such is thrown at them. As seen in the picture, Aki took the photograph at the airport.
Aki is one of the most sought-after and successful actors in the movie industry in Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and he's fondly called Daddy GO by his church faithfuls. He commands great authority in Nigeria.

My Experience With Ritualists/kidnappers At Lekki This Morning – Deife

Here is what the op wrote on Nairaland
I’ll be as brief as possible, Nairalanders. To tell you that kidnappers & ritualists exist & are on rampage is an understatement. What you need to be aware of is that they adopt different strategies to capture their victims. I’m going to share with you one approach so as not to become a prey.
I was at Law School busstop at about 6.30am today when I saw a cab & told the driver my destination. He told me to board. I noticed that there was a ‘passenger’ beside him & another one at the back. So I sat at the back.
Within 30 seconds of our journey, the young man beside me offered the driver #100 as transport fare. Immediately, the driver started shouting. The dialogue ensued between both of them:
Driver: How dare you offer me a hundred naira as transport fare? Aren’t you the one that put that bag in the trunk? In fact you have a case to answer. Where did you get that huge amount of money from?
Passenger: (sobbing & genuflecting) please don’t expose me. My boss died this morning. He was a Hausa man who ran a Bureau de Change business. He died after a brief illness. As soon as he died, my colleague made away with one of his vehicles. Because I don’t know how to drive, I decided to make away with this money.
Passenger at the Front: How much is in the bag?
Passenger: 1.1 million dollars
Passenger at the Front: Oga driver, you know what? Let’s strike a deal with the man. (Facing the Passenger at the back who at this point is already shaking like a jellyfish) Are you ready to share this money with the rest of us on this car?
Passenger: Yes sir!
All along I was quiet.
Passengersadthe one who ‘stole’ the money) We need a herbalist or witch doctor to help us make the charms ineffective because the last time I tried to touch the money, I fell down.
Driver: (Cuts in) that’s no problem. We will get a pastor or a herbalist to destroy the charms.
At this point, the passenger asked for my views. To be candid, so many things were on my mind. I felt this could be the ‘major break’ I had been trusting God for. On the other hand, I wasn’t comfortable because if what the passenger said was anything to go by, & I partook in spending the money, I would have murdered Peace & Sleep.
Me: No true pastor will agree to be a part of this.
Before you could say Jack Robinson, the Passenger at the Front quickly offered to phone a herbalist that he claimed to know. Meanwhile the driver had taken the alternative route instead of going through the Toll Plaza. As soon as we got to a point, I told the driver to stop, I told him I wasn’t interested, & immediately got out of the car & took a long walk.
To cut a long story short, when I got to work, I just hinted my colleague about my experience without going into details & guess what she said! She told me their modus operandi which tallied with what I experienced today.
So Nairalanders, I urge you to always take time to pray before you go out & be close to God. Put God first in all you do & be security conscious. May you not die untimely in Jesus’ name & may God’s grace be constantly available to you & your loved ones.

PSG Deny Making Rooney Bid

Paris St Germain director of football Leonardo says the club have not made an offer for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
photo Paris St Germain director of football Leonardo says the club have not made an offer for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
A number of national newspapers in England suggested on Tuesday that PSG were lining up a summer swoop for England international Rooney.
The club have also been linked with moves for Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Leonardo has distanced PSG from these deals, although the Brazilian did admit the Qatari-backed French club would be looking to strengthen before next season.
"On Ronaldo, there has never been an offer," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I've never heard anything about Rooney or Cavani either.

"I do not rule out big signings, but only if there is a suitable opportunity.
"We do want a larger squad with adequate cover in all areas in order to avoid the sort of problems we had in January in midfield with all the injuries and suspensions."

Most of PSG's big-money signings last summer came from Italy, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva arriving from AC Milan, Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli and Thiago Motta from Inter Milan, among others.

However, Leonardo - the former AC Milan and Inter coach - said he could cast a wider net this year.
"The market is opening up," he added. "We may look in Spain or England."

Jonathan Congratulates Venezuela’s New President, Maduro

The Nigerian president congratulated his Venezuelan counterpart.
Jonathan Congratulates Venezuela’s New President, Maduro
President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated Venezuela’s acting President, Nicholas Maduro, on his victory in the elections held in the country on Sunday.

The election followed the death last month of late President Hugo Chavez.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, Mr. Jonathan noted that Nigeria and Venezuela have traditionally enjoyed close and cordial bilateral relations.

Mr. Abati said the president looks forward, therefore, to working with Mr. Maduro and his administration to further reinforce and expand existing trade, economic and developmental cooperation between both countries for the benefit of their people.

He said the president also expects that under Mr. Maduro’s leadership, Nigeria and Venezuela will continue to work together in close collaboration to strengthen the Africa-South America Cooperation Forum as a platform for the promotion of economic and political cooperation between the two countries and continents.

Mr. Maduro is expected to be sworn into office on Friday to complete the six-year term which late President Chavez would have begun in January.

Controversy Trails Death Of Student At Lagos City Polytechnic

Risikat Akande has had enough. She was getting tired of reminding Saheed to always wash the dishes immediately after eating – that was the fourth time in one week that her exuberant grandson had stormed out of the house after eating without washing them.
photo

This time, the septuagenarian thought, the dishes will remain unwashed until Saheed comes back. But she was wrong. Saheed never returned to the house that day or ever.
Ajibaye Saheed desired so much from life. But above all he wanted to break free from the poverty of Dopemu, a sprawling Lagos slum. A good education is a potential ticket to that escape. He had a diploma in Engineering from Lagos City Polytechnic.  With widespread unemployment and cascading standard of education, he would be lucky to get a casual job as a factory hand with his diploma. That was not the life he dreamt of. He needed a better qualification to stand a chance at living his dream. But there is this other yearning that needed pursuing.

Hugely popularly among friends, Saheed, or Obama as friends like to call him, loved being noticed. He was bouncy and amiable. His friends at home and school all agreed that he was fun to be with. Though he relishes the attention, it wasn’t enough for this ambitious 27-years-old.

He was introduced to Nollywood and already appeared in several fringe roles in the Yoruba arm of the industry. Though he was getting noticed, the process was too slow. For Saheed, “making it” was like a market place one needn’t approach from one path.  He saved some money and decided to go back to school to obtain a higher diploma.
On February 25, he went to collect his admission letter for a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering from the admission office of Lagos City Polytechnic. Few minutes later he slumped and died in a classroom where he was seated.

No help in sight
According to several students who saw what happened, after he fell, Saheed was hurriedly carried to the administrative area of the school that houses the office of the Registrar and the Rector. He was placed on the bare floor and for more than 30 minutes no one made any attempt to administer any form of first aid or volunteer to take him to a hospital, the students, who did not want their names mentioned for fear of victimisation, claimed.

“The Rector and the Registrar were present but nothing was done. Nobody was ready to offer his car to take him to the hospital,” said one aggrieved student.
“They were busy arguing that he wasn’t a student of the school and nothing could be done to help him,” added another student.

“After he was taken away, they cleaned up the bloodstain on the floor and continued with lectures as if nothing happened. Saheed did his ND (National Diploma) in this school. And he came to pick up his admission letter for the HND programme. How could they say he wasn’t a student?” he said as he fruitlessly tried to plug the tears that well up in his eyes with his thumb and index finger.

A doctor at the nearby Holy Trinity Hospital where he was taken said Saheed was already dead by the time he was brought to the hospital.
“We didn’t even admit him. He was DOA (dead on arrival) I took one look at him, check his vitals and told them he was dead,” he said.

The Rector of the Lagos City Polytechnic, Akin Oki, said any suggestion that Saheed was left unattended to for 30 minutes is nothing but a “wicked lie.”
“It took us less than 15 minutes after he slumped to take him to the hospital,” he said. In fact, I was going to use my car but it was blocked by the Registrar’s car and the Registrar happened to be in the toilet when it happened.”

Though he confirmed that Saheed was a former student, he said he was no longer a student of the institution technically.
“He came to obtain an HND form. He was no longer our student but we decided to help him on humanitarian ground. We should be commended for our efforts.”
Mr. Oki and other principal officers of the institution were among those that took Saheed to the hospital.
Similarly, Charles Kuye, the school’s Director for Student Affairs, who claimed to have given Saheed CPR before he was taken to the hospital, said the deceased was attended to immediately he slumped.

“I knew Saheed personally. He was even my Facebook friend. He was very popular among the students. There was no reason why we could have abandoned him for 30 minutes. I and two other students were in the pick-up that took him to the hospital. I was the one that called his relatives and I stayed at the hospital until they arrived. People should thank us for what we did,” he said angrily.

The twenty-thousand naira gift
“Nobody told us what killed our son. He was a health young man and apart from the occasional malaria he has no history of any serious ailment. The school’s officers were about leaving when we got to the hospital.
They only gave N20,000.00 and told us to go bury Saheed,” said a heartbroken Mrs. Akande.
She said she also observed that just before Saheed’s body was taken from the hospital for burial, it started bleeding from the nose.
“We are not saying anybody was responsible for Saheed’s death. We leave everything to God,” she said, her eyes dried with grieve.

Mr. Oki said the school gave Saheed’s family the money because they said he was going to be buried the same day.
“We gave them the money to support them with his burial arrangement,” he said.
Mr. Kuye said he wasn’t aware that Saheed was bleeding from the nose, but blamed the family if that really happened.

“See, after he was pronounced dead by the doctor, his mother brought a perfume and she poured some on his nose. She then placed a picture of T.B Joshua on his chest. She gave me five numbers of Pastor T.B Joshua. Because she didn’t have credit on her phone, I used my phone to call him. After I put the call through, she spoke in a secret language before the pastor started praying. At that point Saheed started fuming from the mouth. At that point we thought he was going to come to. We prayed for hours but nothing happened.”

Unscholarly environment
Some of the student who spoke to us complained about the dilapidated infrastructure and facilities at Lagos City Polytechnic. They said that the school lacks basic first aid materials or an ambulance.
A putrid smell of unwashed toilet hits in the nose like a pugilist’s fist as one approaches the Engineering Department. The students’ toilet is broken. The tiles around the toilet wall have turned black and urine and water floods the toilet floor.

Mr Oki blamed the students for the state of the toilet.
“We have cleaners cleaning the toilet round the clock. But our students are unhygienic and they mess the place up all the time,” he said.
There is an old wooden first aid box outside the Director of Student’s Affairs office. Mr Oki, however, ignored several requests to show the content of the box to our reporter.
Students of the institution, however, say that if the first aid box was well equipped, and a competent medic nearby, Saheed may have been saved.

Chisora Dedicating Fight To Thatcher

Dereck Chisora plans to dedicate his victory against Hector Alfredo Avila to late former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, should he beat the Argentinian on Saturday.

The Zimbabwe-born British heavyweight, fighting for the first time since being stopped in five rounds by David Haye in July 2012, trains in North London and told promoter Frank Warren he was keen to pay tribute to the late Conservative Party leader, who served as MP for the gym’s constituency until 1992.

Asked if he was serious, Chisora said: “Yes – she was a very powerful woman, I liked her. I would have voted for her. I only found out the other day she was the MP for Finchley.”
The declaration carries an added edge given that Chisora is facing an Argentinian opponent. Thatcher was Prime Minister when Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands in 1982, which sparked the Falklands War.
Chisora insists he has taken steps to curb his erratic behaiour after regaining his BBBC licence in March, having had it taken away after brawling with David Haye in a press conference following his points defeat by Vitali Klitschko in Munich in 2012.

“I’m on my last chance, but that don’t concern me,” Chisora added. “I talk to a shrink. I actually enjoy it, but it costs too much money – it’s like £250 a session! It’s good though, the whole nation should be on it.”
Warren, whose ‘Rule Britannia’ fight card also features WBO light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly’s fifth title defence against Kosovo’s Robin Krasniqi, believes victory for Chisora could quickly set up another fight date this summer.

“Chisora’s fighting an Argentinian and he’s told me he’s going to win this and dedicate the victory to Margaret Thatcher,” he said. “Then we’ll look for a big fight for him on June 15 in London.”

VIDEO: Watch As Man Accidentally Sets Himself On Fire While Trying To Burn Somebody Else

Shocking CCTV captured the moment a paranoid schizophrenic turned himself into a human fireball after launching an unprovoked arson attack on a male model and his friend in a pub.
photo

Mitchell Dean, 22, sprayed lighter fluid onto Russell Banks, 22, and Robert Laszewski, 21, before throwing a lit match at them.
Security cameras then show Dean become engulfed in flames when the accelerant splashed onto him as he sprinted out of the pub.

Dean was today jailed for life after launching the unprovoked attack at the Rainbow and Dove pub at 12.40am in Leicester city centre on October 25, 2011.
He was sent to a mental hospital indefinitely after he admitted two counts of grievous bodily harm at Basildon Crown Court.

He was placed under a restriction order which means he will not be released from a mental hospital without consideration from the Secretary of State for Justice.
Russell, who worked as a part-time model, spent three weeks in intensive care after suffering third-degree burns to 20 per cent of his body.
Surgeons removed skin from his legs and implanted it onto his chest and face but Russell was told he would be permanently scarred.

After the attack, Russell, from Sileby, Leics., said he felt 'pity' towards Dean, who also suffered major burns.
He said: 'I wouldn't wish what I have gone through on anybody, not even my attacker.
'I feel anger and pity towards my attacker - but mainly pity for the man who did this to me.
'He's totally changed my life but I can't go on feeling anger towards him.
'I can actually remember it very clearly - he came from behind and the next moment I was set on fire.
'There wasn't much pain but I was consumed with panic.

'My eyes were open and I could see the orange flames all around me.
'Once the fire was extinguished, I was absolutely freezing from the shock then it all went blurry - I don't remember anything till I woke from my coma weeks later.'

Dean, of no fixed address, also suffered major burns but did not seek medical treatment.
Russell was rushed to Leicester Royal Infirmary where doctors sedated him and attempted to open his airways which had swollen after he inhaled the flames.

He was transferred to Nottingham City Hospital's specialist burns unit where he spent three weeks in a chemically-induced coma.

He was connected to a dozen tubes feeding him a cocktail of drugs - including morphine, sedatives and antibiotics.
Surgeons stripped the dead skin from his hands and arms before separating his fingers to prevent them melting together.

Pregnant Mother Kills Her Three Children, Then Herself

A heavily pregnant mother jumped to her death yesterday after apparently killing her three young children.

Hours earlier, Fiona Anderson had posted desperate Facebook messages saying her partner had left her for another woman.
photo
The 23-year-old put up photographs of her three children with the message: ‘Mummy will always love you and I’ll never leave you.’
But she was found dead at the foot of a car park at 8am after apparently throwing herself from the multi-storey building
Police officers were dispatched to her home half a mile away and found the bodies of her children – Levina,

3, Addy, 2, and Kyden, 11 months.
In her Facebook postings, Miss Anderson issued an emotional plea to Craig McLelland, the father of her children.

‘All we did was love you,’ she wrote. ‘We never gave up on you. You have hurt us so much for so long. I gave you everything I could. Your kids worshipped you like a god.’
Miss Anderson then posted pictures of each of her children and wrote messages about how much she loved them.
Last night, Mr McLelland arrived at Miss Anderson’s home close to the seafront in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Choking back tears, he said: ‘I have just lost my family. My children are dead. What would you be feeling?
‘I found out this morning when I got a phone call saying somebody had committed suicide and I had a feeling who it was.’

When asked whether he had left Miss Anderson for another woman, Mr McLelland, who lives in Lowestoft, broke down and declined to comment.
Miss Anderson is thought to have fallen 40ft to her death in Gordon Road. Her children were found three hours later.

Neighbours and friends were last night putting cuddly toys and flowers on a makeshift shrine outside the flat in a mark of respect.
Karleigh Burlingham, 20, who lives nearby, said: ‘She was a lovely person. She just didn’t seem the sort of mother to do this. It is devastating that three innocent little children have died.

‘I knew her for three or four years and I thought she was a brilliant mother. Her kids were healthy and well brought up. Fiona was outgoing and friendly. She would talk to anyone and she was very laid back.
‘But her boyfriend left her about a month or so ago for someone else. She was heavily pregnant with a baby girl due next month.’

VIDEO: Beaver Bites Man To Death In Belarus Attack

The beaver pounced as a man went to take its photograph after spotting the animal on the side of a road during a fishing trip.
A fisherman has been bitten to death by a beaver after trying to take its photograph.
The man was on a fishing trip at Lake Shestakov in Belarus with two friends when they spotted the animal on the side of the road.
He stopped so that he could take a picture but as he approached the beaver it pounced on him, biting him in the thigh.
His friends attempted to stem the flow of blood from the wound but the animal’s bite had severed a main artery and the man, who came from Brest, bled to death.
VIDEO: Beaver Bites Man To Death In Belarus Attack
Beaver attacks are rare and according to experts those animals that do go for humans are usually rabid. However, they are not unheard off. Beaver teeth are sharp enough to cut down trees.
Earlier this week a video was posted on YouTube showing a man in the Tver region, northwest of Moscow, running away from a beaver who charged at him as he was filming in the area.
Last year in the US two girls were mauled by a beaver in a lake in Virginia as they swam. They suffered serious bite and scratch injuries. A man was also attacked in New York and an elderly woman in Washington.
In 2003 in Belarus a farm manager and farmhand were bitten by a rabid beaver as they tried to chase it from a barn. They survived the attack.

Judgments in Nigeria - Jiggles, Riddles

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, is concerned about the quality of judgments delivered in courts across the country.
She finds a relationship between the judgments and flagging public confidence in the judiciary.
It is only a matter of insistence that the court is the last hope of the common man. In practice, the poor do not expect to get justice from the courts. They are not disappointed. Court verdicts paint grim pictures of the disparity of the laws, depending on who are affected.
"A judge should write in a simple and unambiguous manner. A judgment should meet the justice of the matter or controversies between the contending parties. It is certainly not good for a judgment to be capable of more than one interpretation," Mukhtar said at a refresher course to improve judgement writing.
Knowledge and writing skills are the least of the challenges judges face when writing judgments. Ambiguous judgments stem from being compromised. It is worse, as evidenced in electoral disputes, where all parties involved could have induced the judge. At appeals, some judges have been berated over judgments riddled with contradictions.
Judgments are written, many believe, to provide comfort for all paying parties; with the highest bidder getting the juiciest decision. "I have heard the aphorism a couple of times that in the court, the rich get bail while the poor get jailed. To what extent have we as judges turned justice away from the highest bidder?" Mukhtar asked.
The matter is totally out of hand. The intervention of the National Judicial Council, NJC, has been tepid. Mukhtar is stepping over the NJC to invoke divine intervention to strike fear into judges. "As you sit in judgment over others, you are also standing at judgment and one day, we shall all stand before God to be judged." Will that scare them? What can scare them?
Punishment for corruption in the judiciary is too temperate to moderate behaviour. Judges are hardly tried, the harshest punishment they get on corruption cases is retirement: with full benefits.
Is that adequate punishment for corruption? Why would judges who collect bribes worth millions of Naira, often more money than their entire benefits for decades, not eagerly embrace retirement with their loot?
Mukhtar and the NJC have a task ahead of them. If they charge judges to court for corruption, they would be astounded about the speed with which they would spray clarity through their judgements.
Corruption in the judiciary would fester for as long as corrupt judges are retired after internal investigations and allowed to keep their loot. Public confidence in the judiciary cannot grow when judges treat themselves as exceptions to the law.

Traders Seek Fashola’s Intervention Over Ejection

No fewer than 300 traders under the aegis of Ultra Modern Traders Association, Balogun Market, Lagos have called for the intervention of Governor Babatunde Fashola in their eviction from their plaza.

The traders on Wednesday marched to Governor’s office in Alausa, urging him to constitute a committee to resolve the crisis.

Counsel for the traders, Mr. Onu Uche, who submitted the traders’ petition, explained that the ordeal of his clients started after a court judgment led to the forced closure of the plaza.
Uche said, “Most of the traders and banks renewed their tenancies early this year with the strong belief that Lagos State Government is the original owner of the property.

“But the new owners have locked up the shops occupied by the embattled traders with their goods and wares worth millions of naira.”

Uche said the new owners’ lawyers had also directed the traders to obtain a form at the cost of N15,000 per shop, pay additional rents for two years and 10 per cent agreement as a pre-condition for the reopening of the shops.

He said while the traders were not contesting the court judgment, they did not like the manner they were forcibly ejected and not being served with a statutory notice and then a court ejection order.

He said the traders urged the governor to constitute a negotiation committee comprising government representatives, the new owners and the traders to resolve the matter amicably.

Security aides to the governor received the traders’ petition on his behalf. They explained that the Governor was not on seat.

“We strongly believe that meaningful dialogue and negotiation are the only way to the restoration of peace and normalcy in the market,” Uche said.

Ekiti Deputy Governor For Burial April 26

Ekiti State Government on Wednesday announced that the late Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka, would be buried on April 26 (RIP).

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo.

The statement read, “The remains of the late Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs. Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka, would be buried on Friday, April 26, 2013. The week-long activities for her state burial will commence on April 22nd.”

The statement was silent on where the remains would be buried.
Meanwhile, the three senators from the state – Senator Babafemi Ojudu Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi and Senator Tony Adeniyi – paid a condolence visit to the parents of the late deputy governor.

Ojudu, who wept uncontrollably, extolled the virtues of Olayinka, urging the grieving parents to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a good life and impacted many lives positively.
The senator said he saw Olayinka last Thursday before he travelled out. He said both of them cried when he was leaving her because she knew that “her time was near.”
Also, the  Forum of Deputy Governors in Nigeria on Wednesday, said it was impressed by the quality of medical treatment given to the late Olayinka in her battle against cancer, which eventually led to her death last Saturday at the age of 52.

The Forum, in a condolence message delivered to the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, lauded the state government for its support for the deceased.

Delivering the message of the Forum to Fayemi in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, the representatives of the forum, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope- Adefulire (Lagos State Deputy Governor) and Chief Segun Adesogun (Ogun), lauded the support the late Olayinka got from the Ekiti Government in her courageous battle against the sickness.

The Forum, according to Orelope-Adefulire, is proud of the contributions of the late  Olayinka to the success of the Fayemi administration in which she served diligently.
Orelope-Adefulire said, “Your government has been wonderful in taking care of her, she received the best of treatment. She was very courageous, hardworking and she lived a fulfilled life.”

Meanwhile Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; and his Kwara State counterpart, Abdulfatah Ahmed,  were among eminent Nigerians that paid condolence visits to Fayemi over the death of Olayinka.
Other dignitaries include  the Accountant- General of the Federation, Mr. Jonah Otunla; Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, who was represented by a delegation.

Amosun, who described the late Olayinka as a daughter of Ogun State, having married an Egba man, said Ogun State also shared in the pain of the loss of the late deputy governor.
“In Ogun State, we are sharing in this grief because she was married to our son, she is our wife and we share in your grief, we share in your sorrow,” he sai

4 Policemen Arraigned For Allegedly Killing 2 Over N50

Four police officers were, yesterday, arraigned before a high court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly killing two persons and shooting  another in the foot over a failed attempt to extort N50 from a bus driver.

The suspects, ASP Omorogbe, Inspector Emmason Udo, Hadiza Musa and Samirah Ileya of the Abacha Road Police Station, Obia/Akpor locality of Port Harcourt were alleged to have shot the victims sometimes in 2010 while the driver of the commercial bus in which the victims were riding attempted to escape from the policemen who demanded N50 from him at a check point.
They were said to have been arrested on the orders of then Police Commissioner who insisted on their being tried for alleged killings.

In the suit No PHC/858/2010 filed against the suspects, the applicant, Ifeanyi  Echemazu, whose mother in-law was shot in the leg said he took the action to pursue justice for his mother-in-law and the two passengers who died during the ordeal.

“The suspects thought nobody was alive to testify against them in this matter, but Mrs. Christiana Aliko who was hit on the leg is here to testify that those who boarded the vehicle were passengers and not robbers as the suspects claimed,” Mr Chidi Ekah, counsel to the applicant told the court.

He added that the driver of the commercial bus whose resistance to the alleged N50 extortion provoked the fatal shooting is also alive to tell the story.
Justice Georgewill of State High Court who presided over the hearing, however, adjourned the matter to April 23, 2013 to allow the applicant and defence counsel time to present more witnesses.

Women On 'The View' Discuss Rick Ross' Rape Lyrics. UltraViolet Protest Takes Place Outside Of Reebok NYC Store [Video]

Video After The Jump

The controversy surrounding Rick Ross' date rape lyrics isn't dying down. If anything the outcry is growing louder as networks like CNN, Fox and ABC have picked up the story.

Put molly all in her champagne / She ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that / She ain’t even know it," Ross raps in the song U.O.E.N.O.”

Yesterday on ABC's "The View," Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd discussed the song and what they thought should happen next.

"I think that Reebok is a trailblazer in terms of having women and strength, their fitness and well being at the forefront of what was going on in fitness and athletics," said Hasselbeck. "I have no doubt that they'll do right by women with whatever happens here. [Ross] is not their only guy. They have Alicia Keys, they have Swizz Beatz. They have a slew of celebrities that are gonna go in there and actually be strong by their brand and also obey their morality clause."

Lil Wayne DOES NOT Cut His Dreads Off Confirmed

You know that you have made an indelible impression on your industry when news that you have cut your hair stirs the entire industry into a frenzy. This is the case with Young Money CEO, Lil Wayne, who was rumored to have cut his dreadlocks earlier this week. A firestorm of reports hit the airwaves discussing the topic. Many thought it to be a refreshing move, but many seemed almost devastated by the thought of the long locks of the Golden Kid no longer being intact.
Well, it seems that everyone can rest a little easier as a report has been released that refutes the previous reports that Lil Wayne cut his dreadlocks. According to Young Money President, Mack Maine, Lil Wayne’s iconic dreadlocks are still intact.
“Let’s end the speculation….Lil bro didn’t cut his hair…but he is rocking that Saints Super Bowl ring!! #longhairdontcare,” he tweeted February 1st. (Mack Maine’s Twitter)
Kelley L. Carter, an MTV News Contributor, who watched the “Hot Boy” perform at a Super Bowl Party and posed for a picture with him afterward, says that the rappers dreads were still intact. “I’m pretty sure he still had his dreads and they were pulled back in a ponytail,” she told us Friday (February 1). “In fact, I’m like 1,000 percent positive. I would’ve noticed that.”
Well, it looks like everyone can refocus on whether or not Ray Lewis knowingly used performance enhancing drugs during the recovery from his triceps injury, although the story of Lil Wayne cutting his hair seems to be more intriguing

Rick Ross Crashes His Rolls Royce While Escaping a Shooting Attack

The Maybach Boss, Rick Ross, came under fire, literally, earlier this morning. According to numerous sources, including TMZ.com, Maybach Music Group CEO Rick Ross was ambushed on Fort Lauderdale’s Los Olas Boulevard, near 15th Avenue. While sitting at a light another vehicle pulled up next to Ross’ Rolls Royce Phantom and began shooting.
Ross, who is believed to be the driver at the time of the incident, also had a female passenger in the car. Under a barrage of gunfire, Ross sped off in an attempt to escape to safety. While frantically attempting to get away, Ross crashed his Rolls Royce Phantom into a building, causing significant damage.
Although shaken up, both, Ross and his female companion, were not struck by the onslaught of bullets; over twelve rounds were fired.
At this time it is not clear whether this was a random robbery attempt of if Ross was singled out as a part of an attack from a personal enemy.
At the time of publishing this article no statement has been issued by Rick Ross or any representatives from The Maybach Music.
Local Ten News was able to obtain a photograph of Ross’s Wrecked Phantom. Witnesses say that Ross was visibly shaken up after the crash.

I don't have to apologise to Vidal - Ribery

Franck Ribery has insisted that he has no reason to feel bad for his stamp on Arturo Vidal during Bayern Munich's 2-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday.

The Frenchman and the Chilean were involved in a number of battles throughout the contest, including a late coming together which may well have seen the Roten star dismissed.

"It was a duel with Vidal," he was quoted as saying by Bild.

"I took a lot of hits and dished out some as well. In this particular situation, I challenged for the ball, but I hit his foot.

"I didn't apologise and he didn't either. That's football, that's the Champions League. It's no problem."

Bayern and Juventus clash in again in Turin on April 10.

50 Cent Talks Formula 50 Workout on Today Show (Video)

Rap Music Mogul 50 Cent stopped by the “The Today Show” to discuss the release of his new book: Formula 50. Formula 50 is a book in which the rapper provides readers advice and tips on how to get fit. While at the show “Fifty” discussed how he became interested in working out and being fit in the first place. Referencing his shooting incident in 2000 and the grueling rehabilitation that followed, the rapper pointed tot that rehab period as the beginning of his interest in being holistically fit. “I was hurt pretty bad so I had to come back to go through rehab in a city in New York and I would travel, it was an hour from where I was staying. From there, they’ll put you on special treadmills to walk because my legs were damaged pretty bad. And then I started to go to a local gym to walk on an actual treadmill. Just being in the environment, it made me want to be more involved in the other aspects of my physical health.” The “marketing mastermind” briefly discussed one of the laws of the book which states “Learn to embrace the chaos of the gym.” He said that you have to learn how to be flexible in your workout routine. He said that it can be chaotic in the gym and if you are too rigid in your routine and you get to a workout station and it’s already taken it can be frustrating and cause you to give up on working that particular part of the body.

Lupe Fiasco Takes to Twitter to Blast Violent Lyrics in Hip Hop

Sunday is universally recognized as a day of relaxation and reflection, whether you are a religious person or not, it is usually a day taken off from the hustle and bustle of life. Lupe Fiasco took the opportunity to use twitter as a platform to blast violent lyrics in Hip Hop. Over a series of 19 separate tweets Lupe let his opinion be known. “Violent music (and all violent media) effectively says its ‘OK’ to be violent. It provides positive reinforcement for negative actions,” Lupe said in a tweet. “If you rap and make violent music then own up to it. Stop hiding behind ‘art imitating life’ as a way to evade the guilt.” He also referred to a Dr. Dre line on Eminem’s Guilty Conscience in which Dre spits, “How the hell you gonna tell this man not 2 be violent?, Cuz he dont need to go the same route that I did.” Lupe went on to admit that in the past he has released some violent music and has committed acts of violence, but he insists that it should not continue. “Ive made violent music. Done violent things. Most of my friends are violent. Lived in violent neighbors. Seen violence first hand,” he said. “A certain point you start to get tired of it. You ask why? Why is it like this? What is causing this? Why is this ok to live like this? Then you turn on the news and see that a 12 month old got shot in the face by two teenagers in Georgia for no reason at all.”

Omarion Shares His Top Five Hip Hop Albums of All Time

R&B Singer and Maybach Music Group veteran recording artist Omarion recently weighed in on his top five Hip Hop Albums of all time. Omarion, who has over eleven years of experience in the recording industry, both as a member of a group and as a solo artist has earned the credentials that affords his opinion some significant gravity when weighing in on topics such as this. “Definitely Tupac’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. That’s a classic,” kicked off the MMG artist, of the album Tupac released—as Makaveli, shortly after his 1996 death. The former Sony artist praised another album from a few months later that had that same posthumous promotion. “Definitely Life After Death by The Notorious B.I.G.,” he said of the 1997 Bad Boy Records release. Continuing, Omarion had a second album making his list from the Death Row Records catalog, this one from 1993. “The first Snoop Dogg album ever, Doggystyle. I want to say Kanye West’s albums… but I want to say which one it is: 808′s & Heartbreak. People wouldn’t consider that a Hip Hop album, but I do because he’s a rapper.” The former B2K Member, finished his list with Jay-Z’s Blueprint album. He says that he judges it based on whether or not he knows the lyrics to all the songs on the album. He says that sometimes he will hear a song and he will know the lyrics to that song that he never realize he knew the lyrics to. He says that is how he knows that the song is a classic.
